Volunteer Information 2022
Haunted Happenings Market at the Salem Common
Market hours: Oct. 1,2,10,15,16,22,23,29,30,31
Saturdays – 10 AM – 9 PM (Load in begins at 7:00 AM, cars off-site by 9:45am)
Sundays – 10 AM – 6 PM (Load in begins at 7:00 AM, cars off-site by 9:45am)
ODIS will pack up at about 6-6:30 pm each day at the discretion of the weekend lead. No cars are allowed on the Commons in the afternoon so everything will need to be carried off to a vehicle.
All vendors are asked to unload their cars as quickly as possible, with a 45-minute time limit (We will be enforcing this) for unloading and only one car per vendor at a time.
We strongly advise using both loading zones (Washington Sq. North and South) and using dolly's/carts for load out on Saturday night.
SALEM COMMON FAQ
Weather Policy: Plan B/ RAIN PLAN
This event is rain or shine. The City has reserved the right in case of bad weather predictions to not allow use of the inner part of the Common proper itself. Plan B would entail setting up all vendor booths at the outside dirt path of the Common, in between the path and the fence. Car access would be limited, and on the outer dirt path only. In case the City declares the need to go to Plan B we will email all vendors their new location immediately following that decision. The City will try to make the decision at least 48 hours in advance.
CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY
Vendors will act with respect to others. Physical and verbal abuse to others will not be tolerated. All people shall be treated with respect. Vendors will report any inappropriate activity to on-site managers. Violations of this code of conduct will result in immediate removal from the event without refund. Creative Collective reserves the right to restrict or terminate any vendor whose activity is disruptive or detrimental to the quality of the event. Creative Collective also reserve the right to remove any vendor who misrepresents their products without a refund.
INTERNET AND WIFI
WiFi/internet access is not available. PayPal & Square readers will need to work using your phone’s data.
ELECTRICITY
There will be no electricity available for individual vendors at any location.
IMPORTANT NOTES!
(Any non-adherence to the below restrictions can lead to vendors being asked to leave and no refunds will be issued. Creative Collective and its management have the final say in all the matters included here and in the aforementioned details included in the application.)
NO STAKES ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE SALEM COMMON!
Tents are required to be sturdy, straight-legged, and professional with tent tops being clean and well maintained. Great example here.
We HIGHLY suggest having a sturdy cart that can help you move your equipment, the Common is NOT like the pedestrian mall or other locations in Salem and you may not be able to pull right up to your space.
Your Business Name/Logo MUST be visible on your tent, banner, and/or signage. Not only does it help management but it also is an essential business practice!
Please make sure and have tablecloths that are floor-length for all tables, this makes the next requirement a lot easier!
Please make sure that additional stock, boxes, trash etc.. will be hidden under your tables.
Displays must be kept tidy, neat, and organized.
All trash must be kept out of view of the public and must be removed by you at the end of the day.
There are limited public trash receptacles due to safety regulations and bags and boxes left by vendors may lead to termination of agreement and loss of future vending opportunities. Trash in and trash out, the city has been pretty specific that they do not want vendors using the trash receptacles for boxes, broken equipment, packing materials, etc.
Smoking and drinking of alcoholic beverages of any kind are not permitted in or around your booth. Please be respectful of your customers and neighbors.
Professional tent weights, 50 pounds per leg minimum, are required for all tents for a myriad of reasons including the safety of the visitors/consumers as well as providing a layer of safety for you and your products.
